Default Custom exhaust?

What if I replace my piping from the cat-back to 2.5" and add a spiral flow muffler as a resonator and keep the stock muffler in the back........how would it sound?

I'm looking for a lil bit more aggressive sound since my car is a 5 speed but i dont want it to be too loud.

I've been in my friends' maxima, elantra, civic, prelude with catbacks and fartcans.......and they all have that annoying droning sound at 2000-3000 rpm. I cant stand it.

Will i have that droning if i go this route?

How much $$ would I need to spend to have a shop do it?

thx

If you keep the original muffler it should sound the same since the same muffler is making the same sound. Makes since? I mean the only way I see to change the sound is to get a different muffler with the resonator for a more beefier sound. Glasspacks, spiralflow muffler's aren't expensive and so isn't piping. try it out and let us know how it sounds. To me, If I were to do anything to the exhaust I would just want to replace everything as possible, headers back

I Have A 1992 Lexus Es 300. Had A Rice Rocket Muffler On It And It Was To Loud For Me!!! So I Went To A Local Muffler Shop And Replace Every Thing Back Of The Headers. Resinator Instead Of Cat And A Super Z Muffler All In 2 1/2 Inch It Cost About $500 Canadian. Now It Has A Nice Sound. I Also Tryed To Duel It Out At The Rear But Because Of The Spare Tire Trunk Space And My Car Being Lowered The Pipe Would Of Hung To Low.

Because looks VS performance is a very different thing.
True duals with an X pipe would be expencive to do at a shop by the time that tack on for fabbing brackets.
For just having dual exhausts. The big reason is most everyone realizes there is no performance benefit from a cat back dual exhaust. (If you're gonna do it, do it right) There have bene several v6 & i4 Camry/solara's with dual exhausts. It's just not a "big deal".

It's also a style thing. If you're goig to do dual exhaust, you need a bumper that will support it. Many of us are so nit-picky about style, that we just simply couldn't bare doing it on the stock bumper with the one little cutout.

The stock exhaust hangs a bit low also. Low exhaust /fueltank interfference / 4 finger gap on the front wheels. It's all a ES/Windom/Entire Camry platform trademark.

Nothing stops you from doing it. Just don't tell us you're gaining performance from it (Because we know you're not). Now do a *real* dual exhaust header back with an X pipe, then ya I cans ee you gaining 20bhp peak from it. & nice power everywhere past 5000rpm.

thx for the tips........i think ima just stick with 2.5" piping from catback to a spiral flow resonator and prolly a nice muffler out back.

I never expected much of a performance gain from upgrading my exhaust......i've already accepted the fact that my car is basically a 4 door luxury sedan with a clutch......not a sports car

But i just want a meaner sound and better handling from this beast
