I just got a 1996 ES300 a few weeks ago and I'm looking to put a K&N air filter into it. I've never replaced the air filter and I was wondering if it's just as simple pull the old one out and slide the new one in type deal or is it more complicated than that? Thanks.

Don't buy a K&N filter.
They:
1) don't increase performance in any way
2) cost 3x as much as any other filter
3) require cleaning & re-oiling yearly
4) are downright nasty after a year, even when cleaned & re-oiled to spec
Stay away from K&N. By the time you buy one of those stupid SOB's, with a re-oiling kit to get to too year TWO in good condition, you could have bought ATLEAST 4 regular filters & changed them every other year without any fuss.
K&N sucks. Don't buy into their bull**** marketing. Because that's exactly what it is.

yea... the K&N air filters caused my 2000 ES to have a check engine light on.... after replacing the air filter to a regular one and drove for about 200 miles, the light went off....stay away!! never again will i use that!!

I know, I bought one & ran it for a year.
truongsta8 you probably introduced a vacuum leak, hit a loose wire, or the remote chance of oil getting on the MAF wire & confusing it. (I've never liked that explination)
