They are definately a little more blueish/purple than the stock D2Rs that came with my 02ES when looking at them from the outside of the car. From inside the car, the illumination is great, as good as if not a little better than the stocks. However, I may be slighted because I am comparing to immediate memory of the stock bulbs which are over 4 years old.
So far I am pleased. You are correct in that they are pricey, $403 from TireRack.com for the pair. Online lexus parts dealers wanted in the neighborhood of $275 EACH for replacement HID bulbs. I did save the stock bulbs cause I have no clue as to how long the PIAA will actually last.
I will post pictures up in a few days or so.
