Pheonix, remember my air mods on my RX300...how useful is the filtration on that chopped up filter of mine, I finally just removed it and I know what people are going to say

Cool

I'm not saying anything... I ran filterless for a long, long time (MInus when I knew I'd be driving down dusty roads.)

The air pressure is so low up here (under 30). I used to use the Internet to gauge the air pressure, but I bought my track a weather station last week. The more I restrict the air, the more I restrict my power and my gas mileage sucks.

Cool

The actual differance between a new K&N filter & a new Lexus/Toyota filter is 0.551 in/hg of pressure drop. That's not very much gain.

Bawahahahahahahaha ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

That was a good tho! It should mean that some times LoL!

Naaaaaaa here in the ES section, we keep it pretty straight forward. It's all opinions, but there isn't really a problem with people giving BS opinions here.

You know anything about the GS 300 cars? how do they campare to the es? i know that they are rear wheel drive, and have a 5spd automatic trans, but on the whole how do they compare? are they as comfort oriented? or more performance oriented? what's the deal w/that car?

Ah, the GS. A.K.A the Performance Sedan. Power is superior to the ES. The GS 300 Carrying a 2JZ-GE. The GS 400 a V8 1UZ-FE, and the GS430 a V8 3UZ-FE.
The GS300 is 220 HP, GS400 is 245 HP, and GS430 is 300 HP.

Cool

I wouldn't go so far as to say the GS's are faster.

1992 Lexus ES 300 8.6 16.6
1994 Lexus ES 300 8.7 16.6
1995 Lexus ES 300 8.4 16.4
1997 Lexus ES 300 8.0 16.1
1993 Lexus GS 300 9.2 16.8
1994 Lexus GS 300 9.4 16.8
1998 Lexus GS 300 7.6 15.7
1998 Lexus GS 400 5.8 14.3
2002 Lexus GS 430 5.8 14.3 (Lexus.com)

1992 Lexus SC 300 7.8 15.8
1992 Lexus SC 400 7.2 15.4
1993 Lexus SC 300 7.4 15.7
1993 Lexus SC 400 7.2 15.4
1995 Lexus SC 400 7.0 15.2
2002 Lexus SC 430 6.2 14.6

GS's are heavier, and loose more of their power in the drivetrain.

That's why ES's are faster than then 2jz-ge powered GS's stock VS stock. Not to be a fanboy, but even modified, The same rough potential for speed/acceleration exists. Next to noone with an ES wants to spend money on it, so you don't see it.

interesting...
why do the gs' loose more of their power in the drive train? has it to do w/it being rear driven, or just the weight factor?

and how about the ride quality ES vs. GS (smooth luxury comfort)?

how about compared to the LS (comparing the es, once again)?

Cool

Rear wheel drive transmissions are larger, while the mass of the rotating system itself is always larger than transverse.
