I am interested in buying a lexus es300 year 2000 with just 27000 miles on it . It has salavage title . the tile was issued because of the passenger side accident . Fender and bumber both have been replaced and car looks like a new . My question is what are the draw backs of having a car with salvage title ( of course price drop ) . I am paying 12300 $ for it . Can I transfer a car with salvage title on my name or can I chage it to clean title .

Unethical car lots illegally sell salvage title cars as clean title and go to jail when caught. No, you can't legally delete salvage from the title. However, you may be getting a good deal if you plan on keeping and driving the car 'til the doors fall off. Reselling will always have the salvage stigma, making it harder to sell...Good luck.

Salvage titles... Insurance companies don't like dealing with salvage titles, and the coverage is bad. If you plan on going full coverage, I suggest you look for a clean title.

$12,300 still seems like a lot for a car with a salvage title
KBB says ~$14k in good condition, so i wouldn't spend anything over $9000 for it. i'm sure that you know the giant risks you're taking with salvage.. here are my three main gripes with salvage:
1. You don't know for sure to what extent the damage was
2. You have no idea if the everything was fixed properly (and there's no real way to check)
3. If you have to sell the car before the wheels fell off, good luck finding a buyer.
If you're looking to buy a car way cheaper than KBB and don't mind that it was badly damaged, buy it before it gets fixed up. That way, you can at least take it to YOUR body shop where you know they will fix it correctly.

i honestly wouldn't touch it, and u should run that vin # if u feel u really want it. it will be a lot harder to sell because u must disclose that salvaged title or u might run into trouble later on after it's sold if u didn't disclose it. my last car i got that off my hands for what i wanted luckily, the thing had no airbags too, imagine that!!

I wouldn't touch it either. But if you do end up purchasing it, make sure to let someone checking it out before you purchase it. Also if you plan to purchase a salvage vehicle, I'd recommend driving it untill it breaks down, because its very difficult to trade in a car with a salvage title.

That price is a bit high, but give the car a really good look, because I bought a 93 es with a salvage title and I found alot of things that I didn't like about the car. Alot of stuff wasn't put together well. The interior was the worst part, none of the wood panels matched and fell off within 4 months, I've gone through a radio, A horn and i'm looking for a climate control unit, and also a dash kit, the spare was a full spare, but the bad part was that it was a 4 lug wheel and it left me stranded at the grocery store, but enough with the sob story, just be carefull with salvage title cars
