Default Question regarding coilovers?

Is coilovers really necessary if I'm putting 20's on a 92 ES with no plans of dropping? My main concern is rubbing and getting the right offset. Can someone please help with this. I'm getting them in a few days.

if you had no plans of dropping it, then no, you don't need coilovers or anything for that matter.

as far as getting the right offsets for your 20's ( wich 20's are not recommended. I'd stick with 18 or 19's ) but if you must do 20's, and only 20's......then a 20x7.5 for a front wheel drive car would set you right. as for the offsets, a +35 to +42 should be alright. the higher the number on the offset the less it will stick out.

to me, a more aggressive offset is always best. the further you push out, the better it looks. but not on a 20.
on a 20, you should do a 40's offset. to keep those big tonkas in.

on the other hand. 19's, in my opinion, would be the way to go.
you can go wider like a 19x8.5 and do something like a +25 to 32 on the offsets. do some small fender mods and you got yourself something pretty sick.

your other concern was rubbing.

again if you must do 20's and only 20's. then going with that 20x7.5 should prevent the rubbing issues. also look for a more narrow tire.
for example, if they already come with a 235, I'd do a 225.
