Questions about engine noise
The car is starting fine now, i think it might have been just issues from a cold start...kind of a one time fluke thing..but a few questions..
The car is whiny'er now then when i first got it about a week or two ago. The TB looks smooth and there are no noticeable cracks but most of the noise im hearing is coming from the front right portion of the hood. When i open the hood all the noise appears to be coming from the rotating TB. The car just sounds louder than it did before. I feel as if the car is idling faster than it should....
Second. There is a **** below the steering colum...no label on it, def a lexus part - im not sure what its for. Any clues? Its dead center or right center below the steering column

Does the whining noise occur only at start-up, or does it continue after driving for some time? If it's only at start-up, the noise is probably coming from the serpentine belt. It may be stretched or glazed, and the only way to get rid of the noise is to replace the belt. You can spray it with WD-40 as a temporary fix. Idle speed at higher RPM's at start-up is normal, as it should go back to 750-800 RPMs after a minute or so in driving mode.
The **** under the steering column is the volume setting for the lock/unlock button on your master key.
