Hey guys I was at the dealer yesterday getting things checked out on my car and one of the issues I have on my car is that hte front seatbelts do not retract allt he time. I bought the car used with a new 3 year/36,000 mile warranty from Lexus. The dealer told me that seatbelts were covered under an 8 year/80,000 mile warranty which started from the original purchase date of the car. The 8 year warranty is expired, but my question is are seatbelts covered under the general 3 year/36,000 mile warranty? I mean they are not part of the powertrain or anything.

Your logic is confusing. The seat belts are covered under the 8 year/80K mile warranty, and the time on your car has already expired a couple years ago (assuming you haven't gone over 80,000 miles on your ES). With that said, it makes no sense to inquire about the general warranty (3 year/36K mile) since that too expired long time ago.

You should have received a copy of the warranty you purchased. Does it state it's for the entire auto or just the drive train and engine? Without a contract, you don't have a leg to stand on, so to speak!
