Default Universal Tourb Kit

A company called STS is gonna be coming out with a universal turbo kit, the turbo just goes in place of the muffler instead of using a turbo manafold, but I don't know about the price check out www.ststurbo.com

Cool

While there are several companies that do remote mounted turbo's, none of them have any plans to do anything from the Camry platform.
Sorry.

On a personal note. I highly doubt the make a universal system. Anyone can buy exhaust bends & make their own for far cheaper. Ever seen universal exhausts? They're nothing but bends & pipes for sale.

If u want a universal turbo, Screw it I'll sell u abunch of pre-bent pipes for real cheap.

I looked at this and nearly wanted to do this, but the oil lines would be so long (and I do not want to have a remote oil source down at the rear of the vehicle).

I have a friend with a Camaro at the track who has one of these systems and is working on improving the design. They do work extremely well.

i heard from a friend that is a mechanic that all of these universal turbos suck, and especially because its at the rear of the car and not near the engine. is this true, or maybe they found some new way to get around this?

Cool

Not really. They're more sensative to flow, but no. The heat is not very important to the turbine, unlike what corky bell said in his book Maximum boost.

If your turbine & turbo choice are good, they still respond very well. Besides... Every single turbo V bank engine on the planet is a remote mounted setup. The only differance is about another 5' of pipe.
