Does anyone else have this problem? Sometimes it works great and other times it won't work at all. It's gotten to the point where it is really annoying. We have a DVD player in the back seat for my son and it's nice to be able to plug the charger in for the long trips. I was just curious if this was a common problem or not and what the fix was. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How burnt and dirty is the inside of the socket? Clean with a wood pencil eraser and a little sandpaper attached with a rubber band, over the eraser end..
Vacuum clean.

Does the socket seem loose and turn in it's mounting?
This indicates a possible poor ground.

Insure the adapter fits correctly, check the center positive connector for a good spring load.
Does the lighter heat up correctly?
