Pioneer HU in 1996 ES300. HELP!!!
I posted this thread in the Audio forum, but have gotten no help at all. Here's my problem:
I'm trying to install a Pioneer head unit in my ES. I have read the DIY posted by Aldente (nice write-up), and checked numerous wiring diagrams. No matter what I do, I can't get the deck to power on in the Lexus . When I reconnect it to my other car, it works fine (but that's with a different harness from another Pioneer deck - both decks use the same harness). Does anyone have any ideas?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, guys.

Forgive my thought process here, but I'm a visual person so reading instead of looking makes things difficult for me.
Is it possible you have the battery constant wired to the switched positive? I don't mean to question your skills, I'm just thinking of the simplest things first. Have you tried running a test on the battery constant in the stock harness or testing the stock harness ground. Does the OEM unit work fine when you plug it back in? Do those tests and let us know so we can go from there. Hopefully that helps.

I've run tests with a volt meter on the harness and it seems to check out OK. I had lopped off the factory harness, but I soldered it back on and bought a Toyota wiring harness...still no go. The factory unit works fine when I put it in. I put the deck in question back in the old car and it also works fine. What gives?
