Question Help with rear rotors/emergency brake

Hi, I tried changing my rear rotors today but was having problems with the emergency brake. How do I disengage the emergency brake so the shoes aren't pressing against the drum (besides pressing the pedal). There was a piece of rubber thing I popped off of the rotor, I know this is used to turn something for the emergency brakes. This was as far as I got since I don't know what to do to disengage the emergency brake. Much help appreciated, thanks.

The rubber thing you popped off is probably the shoe adjuster hole plug. You'll need a small, flathead screwdriver to adjust the shoes. Just stick the screwdriver through the hole, and you'll feel a starwheel. Turn the starwheel down to loosen the shoes. After about five or so turns, the rotors should come right off.

Don't forget to tighten the shoes back up after you put the rotors back on.

Oh, I forgot to metnion:

The starwheel is at the bottom, middle in relation to the rotor, so you need to line the hole up with this, at the 0/360 degree position.
