Hello fellow Lexus forum members! This is my first official post, so hopefully it gets some good responses!
I just purchased a 1995 Lexus ES300 and I am concerned about the RPM’s at highway speeds. I have the 1MZ-FE engine, but I’m not sure which Trans it is.
Here is the problem; at 70 mph, I seem to be turning about 2500-2600 RPM’s, which seems a little high to me. I put a scan tool on it to confirm TCC solenoid lockup and that it was in the proper gear, and that all checked out fine.
So my question is that are these RPM’s normal for this speed? I have the 1MZ-FE engine, but I’m not sure which Trans it is.
Please Help!

.731 o/d
3.933 final drive
torque convertor locked up (1:1)
205/65-R15 wheel = 80.1" cir. / 25.5" dia.
2500rpm = 65.9462840822851mph
2600rpm = 68.58413544557652mph
2700rpm = 71.22198680886792mph
5400rpm = 142.44397361773585mph
6250rpm = 164.86571020571276mph
6850rpm = 180.6928183854612mph
7000rpm = 184.64959543039833mph
You're fine. FYI, there's only one automatic transmission. A541E.
No worries. It keeps the engine from lugging like a ford, or chevy when you're cruising & a load is placed on it. They don't run much fuel when you're not under load so... The rpm balances it all out in the wash.

Yup its normal. At 80mph mine runs about 3100rpm. Not bad.....I just wish 1st gear wasnt so damn long.
If you like low revs, think about the new Toyota Avalon. Tall 5th gear lets it run 60mph@1700rpm and 100mph @ 2750rpm. At the opposite end of the spectrum the '91 miata 5-speed manual revved 3200rpm @ 60mph.
