Code indicates a misfire on cylinder # 5 ('99 es300, 175kilometers (108k miles)). Facing the engine, where is #5 located? Am I safe in assuming it's the ignition coil? Or should I pay out the bucks to have Lexus tell me for sure that this is the fault? I've heard that it's never the wires. The plugs were just replaced. So I'm thinking coil. The part is easy to replace, so if I'm wrong I'm thinking I could just return it in the box to the parts dept.

Also, there's two other issues with what has been a GREAT car: 1) a rattle that sounds like it's coming from the trunk whenever I go over bumps. 2) the trunk opener on dash has stopped working. (Key opener still works.) Any suggestions? I'm hoping Lexus can easily diagnose any issues with struts, etc. in the rear. I'm not sure about the trunk opener. I forked out 400.00 for them to find the cause of a perpetually blowing fuse without which the speedometer, windows, and alternator wouldn't work. They never found it, but still insisted on charging me!

I'm thinking it's time to buy a newer 300 or 330. Any suggestions on 2002 to 2005 models? I drove the variable suspension model, which I like alot because it drastically improves handling at ALL settings. Some sort of electronic shock compensation.
