My ES300 has a pud... pud... pudding sound coming out of the rear muffler. Car starts right up, runs great at high speeds but when idle it PUDS and I can feel it all they up into the steering wheel like if it had a bad spark plug. I already changed the SPARK PLUGS, ROTOR, DISTRIBUTOR CAP, PCV VALVE, and cleaned out the IACV Idle air control valve and throttle body. Any suggestions as to why im having this problem? I also purchased the fuel filter but haven't installed it yet since the car doesn't really choke or anything like that. Could I have bad spark cables ???
Thanks!
Thanks!

You know like an old Chevy with heaters on, or flowmaster kind of like that... I doubt its an exhaust issue, maybe vacuum leak. I've checked all the lines in the car and nothing that I can really find. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,

This may be one for the analysis machine at a locally recommended repair facility.
You will need to determine if the problem is localized to one or two cylinders; whether the burn of this cylinder is lean or rich; and how complete the combustion is of each cylinder.
It may be worth the money for the analysis, rather than replacing parts that may not be part of the problem.

Thanks guys for the suggestions... If it was a bad muffler/cat, would I still be getting plenty of exhaust out of the pipes, because I am!
Analysis; Would I need to have a check engine light for that? I don't have one if that's the case.
Car does feel sluggish, but if you floor it... it totally takes off! Guess I will just have to take it in huH????
Thanks!

Mainly... You are *positive* you don't have a vacuum leak right?
It sounds like it's cutting out on you. Might wanna be one of those rare cases where you should check the fuel pressure, injectors & dare I say it. Change the fuel filter. That may be a first...
Check that the TPS sensor is in adjustment. heck the two main o2 sensors to make sure they're outputting OK & not just old/lazy. Check the timing. Check the cat. If you've got time to wriggle the 4*14mm bolts off of it, you can drop the cat. Just remember that doing so will leave you with virtually a 5' long straight pipe. So expect some loudness complaints. LoL!
Hell i'm just so damn proud somebody cleaned the IAC, EGR & Throttle plate on their own without having to be told to do it! j/k![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Na forget the check engine light. It's pretty basic in it's diagnostics. Unless you want to go through the trouble of Diagnostic Mode 2.

Thanks for your prompt reply!!! As far as replacing the fuel filter, is there a fuse for the pump on those ES300's? I sure would like to get rid of the fuel in the lines before removing the filter... What do you suggest? I will check the timing, TPS as well... I have no check engine light ON, if i get a OBDII reader this wont help me huh? Need to have the ENGINE light on to determine the fault, correct?
THANKS!
THANKS!
