Scary problem with the brakes on my 92 ES
So the other day I'm approaching a stop sign, and as I'm about to come to a complete stop I hit a pothole, and my brake pedal went all the way to the floor and the brakes released and I was about halfway thru the intersection before I could get it to stop. Luckily there were no cars around, so I pull off to the side and push the pedal down again, pump it a few times and everything seems fine again. I figure it was just something random. But then it happened again today coming up to a red light and hit some real deep groves in the road, and I came about an inch from plowing into the back of a pickup truck.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? My brakes have been squeeking a lot lately, and I was planning on getting them replaced soon, but I think that I'm just going to go ahead and get them fixed now. If anyone could possibly tell me what might be causing this problem please let me know before I take it to the dealership later and have them check it out. Just want to make sure they dont try to tell me like 5 different things that are wrong when it could just be something simple.

The main thing you should check is the brake fluid level. If it's low than there's the chance that you have air in the system. This is probably why you have to pump the brake pedal a few times. In this case, you have to bleed out the air.
I would definitely bring the car into a qualified brake company to check out the whole brake system, as soon as possible.

I agree with the opinion above. Sound like you got, not just a little,, but a whole lot of air in the lines. This needs to be bled out of the system before you hurt someone while driving,, including yourself. Also look under the hood and check the fluid level to make sure it is full. Brakes are a component which give you an audible warning that they need attention, and very soon. First time they start to squeal on a consistent basis, time to have examined or replaced; no if ands or buts about it.
