Default 2001 dash backlighting question...

I just got my car back after being stuck in an IS250 for a few days (oh **** ), but I noticed that the defroster buttons on the climate and the window control switch aren't illuminated. Are these supposed to be backlit or am I just comparing it to the IS250?

The same thing happend to my 1998 ES 300. I just tapped on the climate console for few times and they came back on. When i run over bumps or something the lights goes off and i need to tap it to get back on. Seems its a problem in every ES or Lexus line.

Is the defroster button lighting up at all?

The same buttons? I tapped on them a few times, ran over some bumps, closed the center console a few times with no results.

That DOES work on my taillight and my left headlight, however

The power indicator lights above the buttons are lighting up, but the buttons themselves are not.
