Because there is not a convenient authorized Lexus dealer within a 2 hour drive of my city, my 2004 ES 330 had minor front end body work perfomed by a reputable local body shop.

The car was not driven for long distances and I did not try the Cruise Control until recently. Now, the cruise control does activation light will display, but the speed does not set.

Is there a simple solution?

Also, should I be concerned the air bags may not deploy if the cruise control does not work?

The wire for the cruise control speed sensor may be disconnected. Check for it under the hood.

I personally am not hugely concerned if the cruise control doesn't work, as I view it as an added convenience to the car. For that reason, it should have no relation to the question of whether your air bags may deploy, unless you're tied up in bumper-to-bumper traffic and try to set the cruise control (wouldn't make sense to me anyways).
