Exclamation tranmission problem... perhaps?

Hi guys,

Before I go off telling you guys the problem. I'd just like to say I did a search and it was very difficult to find a post relevent to my problem.
I drive a 1992 ES300 with 134k miles that i bought a month ago.

The Problem:

So my brother takes the car to go pick up his Nintendo Wii that he had pre-ordered. He's driving back and calls me telling me he's stuck on the road and the transmission is busted. He said he didn't beat it, cruised at 2.5k rpm and then kept revving but stopped picking up speed. So I go to where he is and check the car out.

Symptoms:

He tells me that while he's driving the car, it just kept revving up and the car wasn't picking up speed at all. When it comes to a full stop. It doesn't move in any gear, whther it's L,2,D or R. After 20 minutes of the car being off. I start it and the car drives again. Perfectly normal. I do a few circles around the lot. I put it back in Park with the car idling. I put it back into Drive and the car doesn't move at all. Nothing.

Possible problems:

My car never had a transmission slip problem. I recently had a tune up done about a week ago. I don't recall the mechanic changing my transmission fluid. Either way, I checked the transmission fluid while the car is on. It goes from "Cold---> HOT" and then says "Dexron-II". Well the oil went past the "Dexron II" words. I don't know if that's a problem or not. The fluid seemed clean and it was a dark purplish-red color. If he changed my oil, i hope he used DEXRON-II but I guess there's no real way to check right?

Solutions:

Anyone familiar with this problem? I'm hoping you experts on the board can help me out. Thanks.

Cool

It's slipping. Depending on how far he drove it he probably destroyed it. You never drive a slipping transmission. You stop it & tow it, or fix it on the spot.

Flush the fluid. Drive around awhile. Park on a level surface with the engine idling in Park. It should read to the top of the hot mark.

Really? I didn't think it was slipping because I was able to drive it around no problem for a while and then it just stopped.

no, it doesn't move in any gear. Drive, L2, L1, Reverse. nothing. That's why i'm confused. I'll put it in Drive and gas it... then nothing happens.

Ok i just drove the car to a mechanics. After 4 hours of not driving it, the car got into gear no problems. Once it warmed up the transmission didn't respond. Couldn't go D, L1, L2 or R.
