Like what MangoMan said, you can't beat OEM coolant.

Except for the fact it doesn't survive the published change intervale alot of times, is very aggressive, and can not be mixed with a traditional glycol coolant, unless you just *want* a solid mass of gel in the system.

You should be flushing the engine & radiator to begin with. Once flushed properly, you could pee in the thing & use that for an anti-corrosive agent if you felt like it & you changed it often lmao! Not really, but flush the system, and fill with whatever you want. Just be sure you change it every other year regardless of what name is on the box.

Cool

Flush it. You can hook it to a negative suction machine that'll suck all the coolant out of the system that few mechanics have access too. Or you can drain all the coolant. Get some cooling system cleaner & use a garden hose to flush it all out nice & pretty.
If you get all the coolant out, you can use whatever coolant you want.

The purpose of the coolant is to keep the metals from corroding. You can use anything, provided you change it before it wears out.

hey pheonix, is the machine the shops use to flush out the coolant the negative suction machine? what would happen if, lets say, there are still some residue left and the new coolant is added

It shouldn't hurt anything if theres a tiny bit of residue but I would flush it as well if I were you. Also I would not recommend just any coolant. Yes if you completely flush the system you can use whatever you want but it was designed for Toyota Red so thats what I would use for longevity.

i remember long ago pheonix once told me the toyota Red was great for 1994 and up engines.. and use whatever you want for the 1992-93 because it's a metal engine.. anyways.. i would go RED.. but make sure you FLUSH the dam thing... you can FLUSH it yourself , just buy a bottle of that Prestone FLush(you can find it in walMart or any auto store)... or you can get it done by an autoshop. but make sure to ask them if they just drain it or use a machine to flush it.. if they said a machine.... ask them to show you.. because these guys love to BS and take your hard earn $$$$..

as for the Tranny and Differential . they BOTH, yes, both use aftermarket oil. i don't think toyota don't have their own..

as for the power steering. i heard somewhere that you use tranny oil as well. or i could be wrong........ pheonix???

Castrol Mercon Dextron III ATF is what I use for my power steering. I've used prestone 50/50 engine coolant since I've had the car but it's not a solution to a leaking water pump gasket . No clue about the differential... should I have it looked at?
