Default Prepping rubber seals for winter

If you are like me, and you do not have a garage, then you know how difficult it can be in the winter time to open your car door when it has been sitting outside. In the morning, when I come out to warm up the car to go to work, I open the driver door, and I hear that sticky ripping sound of a door being semi frozen to the rubber seal that acts as an insulator. It is especially bad the morning after I have been to the car wash to clean off the salt and dirty snow that have built up over the week. I have found that if I rub some armor all or meguiars on the seal, there is no sticking and the door opens freely. You just have to watch your clothes when getting in and out. It also helps with keeping the seals from drying out.

Anyone else try this?

Cool

DO NOT EVER put any ****ing armorall, or anything like it on rubber, leather or vynil. They contain alot of petrolium that dries them out & worsens their condition.

Now the meg's, go for it. But not the armorall crap.

Armor all is bad stuff. Menguiars is fine on most plastic parts. I use their Natural shine products on the interior so it doesn't give that glossy look.

I guess I will stick to the Meguiars. I did not know that Armour all was bad stuff, cheap maybe, but not "toxic".
How about "Black magic"?

Default 303 Aerospace

I've tried this method for keeping my rubber seals in great condition, although it takes a nice day before winter sets in to do it. Basically it happens in one session. I start with spraying a foam paint brush with the 303 Protectant, not too much, but just enough that it doesn't drip out of the foam (I hate wasting good product). Then I apply this to all my door and window seals, interior and exterior, essentially painting it on. Make sure not to close the doors. And from some advice obtained (likely here on CL), you let the protectant work it's way into the rubber. At first glance it looks as though the 303 doesn't want to do anything, but after about 30 min it seems to get in there pretty good. A quick, light rub later and the seals look black and feel very pliable as they should. Good thing too is that 303 has UV protection in it. I figure doing this every couple months and doing routine cleaning of the rubber, the seals should work as best they can. Hope this helps.

the only think I use amorall for is to stop the squeaking of the hinges on my screen doors.

I use the megs. also. Haven't had a door freeze yet.

Our ES is always garaged so this is a non-issue Now if the engine could just warm up a tad quicker........and if the transmission wouldn't do that ridiculous warm-up sequence.
