I'm installing a car pc and need to do something with the headunit. I was thinking of just splicing the wires and putting it in the trunk and using the cassette adapter to my computer... but I dont know if this is a good idea. After about 5 hours of searching on various forums I know 2000 es300 has no wiring harness and the metra harness which I had in my possession I just returned to bestbuy just now cause it doesn't suit my purpose.

So will there be complications with splicing the wires with speaker wire and relocating the unit to the trunk?

I just worked steror on my 2000 Windom, Mine got a AMP beside the ECU behind the glove box, all the steror input and speaker out put wire are there...
(not sure if the US spec car is the same as mine with 16:9 Navi system, GOOD LUCK and post picture of your project...
