Radar/ Laser Detectors? whistler any good?
Does anyone know if the Whistler Radar detectors any good? Or can some one recommend a good radar/ laser detector in the $100 range?
I currently have a radio shack one which I got on sale for 30 and it sucks.
Thanks
ps i did post in the electronics section but got no responses.

Borrowed a friends V1 for abit, sold my Passport and bought a brand new V1.
It truely is the Best you can get.
Even if you can buy a used slightly older model, its worth every penny.
I been through atleast 8 different RD in the past I can finally say that this is truely The one to own...
Most of those low end models I found unreliable.

I own the Valentine One and it is by far the best of the best. The only problem is that you are not going to find one in the $100 range. I would suggest just saving your money and getting a Valentine One or just don't get one at all. I hate to be honest with you but most of the other ones miss certain signals.
Good luck!

I owned the Escort X50 8500 for almost a full yr, and while it did function well, and the City mode did reduce 75% of false alarms, V1 surpassed it with much better sensitivity that the X50 could never ever match. 1 instance is, at the CVS store in town. X50 2 bogey counts. V1 4. how is that? well the V1 can manages to pick there entrance and exit K band.
Now not that I need it to do that, But Fact remains, overall sensitivity on the V1 is superior. I drive through K-band saturated areas, and V1 tends to go off abit more often, but I know for a fact, that if I see 1 extra K-band count where I am familiar how many exactly should be goin off, then theres a Bogey near by.
I too use the swear up and down, I didn't need a V1 while I owned my X50 claiming its just as good blah blah, and I don't need arrows...
Well like i stated in my first post. Try 1 and the difference is pretty clear.
I searched the internet and talked on many other forums about Radar Detectors.
Valentine 1 wins...
Just within the last 2 weeks I can recall 5 times where the V1 saved my A$$
and with the arrows, I know exactly whats ahead, or whats creepin up from behind...
