Another button found
OK I have found a button today inside my ES (92) on top of the steering column. I have had the car one year and I find a button I love those hard to find buttons
But I need to now what it does becuase the sticker next to the button is in Japanese... Yup those hard to find buttons are always marked in japanese .. and i cannot find any Japanase person in my home town to ask what it means on the sticker.
Does anyone know what the button is on top of the sterring column? All I know it is black
thanks

I cannot figure out what this button does. Does anyone know? looking through the outside of the winsheild onto the top of the steering column the button stands out quite well.
I would appreciate it if someone could check the label that appears to be next to the button. As i mentioned earlier mine is written in japanase becuase it was imported from Japan in 98
thanks

You know, yesterday on my way home from work I remember about the "mistery button". So there I am in a red light looking for it but I did not find anything. I'm still curious... perhaps I am not good finding things
Can you take a picture of it?

Here it is.... excuse the dust... looks clean in the daylight but the camera shows dust
As you can see it is right on the top... remeber that my car is right hand drive.. so yours may be on the opposite side to mine (try looking on the right hand side first)

Carlos,
I take it you dont have this button on top of your steering column... it would seem weird why only mine has?
I spotted some japanese guys checking out my car the other day... I should have asked them to translate it for me...
I cannot see anything happens when i turn it on or off... and it is really doing my head in to try and figure out what it is.. LOL

by the way. ! no, I don't have that button... I did a pretty good seach of the dashboard and the only thing that I found was an already used gum, hair, a really old french fried and a small toy.
I'm keeping the toy !

thanks for that Carlos
Does seem weird why only mine has this.... i dont have an ownsers manual as I only got a Camry Manual with it..( hehe im not sure why i had the camry manual)
thought it might have been for the movable steering column. You know when you remove the keys from the ignition the steering pops up automatically so you can get your legs out. But nope... still does the same thing.
it is becoming frustrating LOL

wait
lemme correct myself.
it says "auto tilt-away switch, on/off"
the line in the box beneath tells you to refer to your manual for operating directions.
don't got it on my es...

Haha, yah, it's Japanglish for Auto tilt-away switch. If you read it literally, it'd be something like "ooto tirutu away suweechee"
Sounds like the motorized telescoping feature like in the LS. But it also looks like you have a lever for moving the steering column up and down manually, so beats me.
