2000 ES300 sputtering...
Hi,
I have a 2000 ES300 and I noticed a that it is sputtering in the engine... The check engine light came on but when I noticed that the check engine light was on I noticed that it blinks sometimes and a couple min later it just stays on.. It does this quite frequently... I put some more gas in it because it had a quarter tank... and I put some Heet in it also... I am alsoi taking it to the dealership later today also... I'm not sure what it could be.. any ideas??

I can't stress this enough, but whenever you have a check engine light on, you gotta get the error code(s) scanned with a OBDII-compliant diagnostic scanner tool. You can get this done at no charge at an Autozone or Advance Auto Parts. Once you have the error code(s) scanned and identified, then get back with us and tell us what you found, and we can go from there..

I took the car into the dealership this afternoon.. and they said it was the ignition cylinder that went bad. When I heard this I couldn't picture all that happening with the car not running right with the car sputtering like it was.. the tech said that the cylinders are actually mis fireing in the engine because of this problem.. The car is only running on 5 out of 6 cylinders that is has. So I am having the service done.. $246.00 isn't as bad as I thought it could be to have this repaired.
