Default Wiper Problem on 02 ES300

when i turn on my wiper on it doesn't do anything on first setting, 2nd and 3rd setting works fine but 1st one doesn't do anything. is it wiper motor? or somethingelse? if other 2 settings work than it means motors fine right?
any input is appreciated.

thanks,
Tae

I would say it has somthing to do with the actual wiper switch arm or the wiper relay computer. This is not a motor issue.

I bet your 02 ES has rain sensing wipers. That is the first setting.

To test it out. Put the wiper setting in the 1st. position with your ignition switch on(engine running or not), then spray some water on your windshield. The wipers should start. This is assuming that you have the rain sensing wiper option on your car. You can tell you have it if you see a little box near the top of the windshield that's behind your rear view mirror.

yes i believe i have that option. it's covered with black plastic(like xm antenna) next to rear view mirror. and it also says auto on actual wiper switch. and it was raining really hard last week and neither auto or first setting didn't work at all. and are all es300 wipers are tucked in little bit towards hood? or is it just mine? i was trying to replace my wiper blades and found out that i have to force it little bit.

Pull the wiper arm up while pressed on the glass. They will come up about and inch. This is the winter setting. The arm should now clear the hood and you will be able to change the blades with no problem.
