If you don't like spending extra money, why do you change it out at 2500 miles?

I use 10w-30 supertech oil with a supertech filter and change it at about 3000 miles. The filter is good (bobistheoilguy) and the oil is fine, all at a low price. The engine has 170K miles and 80K of which I have done. I have no leaks, great compression, starts up like a new car.

Even though the manual says to use 10w-30, I use 5w-30.
I've used nothing but Pennzoil since 1976, in any/all of my cars and trucks.


Some people bad-mouth Pennzoil. I've never had any problems with it.

As for Toyota oil. . . the local dealership near me said that their oil is supplied by Castrol in bulk. (55 gal drums.)

Amsoil ASL 5W 30 & Amsoil Ea Oil filters......been using that for about 4 1/2 years now. Switched from M1. Much longer drain intervals & a better overall product imo.

The main standards for motor oil used in Europe is the ACEA A3/A5, and MB 229.5, which are tougher than those of the API and ILSAC in the US. European oils have to meet higher standards - especially in terms of resistance to frothing and thermal breakdown. This is mainly due to the fact that they are generally used in higher-revving engines for longer periods of time. Also, European synthetics are true synthetics, whilst most American "synthetics" are actually just highly refined mineral oil.

I used Castrol EDGE 0W-30 (which is British, considering Castrol is a UK company ) full synthetic on my cars in the UK. It is a fair bit of money, roughly $84 USD for a 4 litre bottle, plus $23 USD for a 1 litre pack. It is excellent to say the least though, and under the conditions you can extend your oil changes to at least 10,000 miles easily. Having said that, 10,000 is the norm in the UK for oil changes with semi-synthetic motor oils anyway...so strictly speaking, it's safe to increase the interval to 15,000 with synthetic.

I use super-tech synthetic from walmart and do my oil changes every 4K, FRAM extra guard. Works pretty good IMO.

they call it "european car formula", because it meets all european car's requirements, like porsche, mercedes-benz, etc. Has high phosphorus[ ZDDP] / zinc content for longer lasting valvetrain protection, something other oils are losing to meet latest CAFE/API [read: paranoid car companies with long catalytic-converter warranties] requirements for ''energy conserving''. it's conserving my energy and it's not burning off either, so it is not even going to affect the catalytic converter compared to non-synthetic , anyway!

P.S. What I'm about to tell you is not a lie. it's not an exxageration. after loading up on this oil and a mobil 1 filter [they are on sale for great deal at advance auto parts] my engine reved up higher with this oil than normal on startup. maybe this is a coincidence, but im not thinking so. it went up to 2,500 RPM ! it only does 2000 normally, someties a little less in colder, then sometimes goes up after a moment to 2000 in those cold times. but on a normal average day, it did the 2500. t has since learned to rev up slightly less each time, so that now its just about 2050 on startup. I also got great MPG on a trip, probably higher MPG than anyone on here has ever gotten with a 92/93 es 300, and is probably competitive with the best of the later models.

I use high mileage Castrol oil in the green bottle. I used to use Mobil but my engine would burn about two quarts. Now that I'm using high mileage Castrol oil it doesn't burn as much and I have over 333,000 miles on my ES 300...

I just got my first oil change since acquiring the car. I went with Mobil1 10w-30. No need to go any lower being in SoCal. The car performs great with the change. The car used to get just dealership oil changes, but now it's on me to get them done. Next time around, I'll be buying the oil and a Mobil1 filter and doing it myself.

The best mileage oil I ever used is Valvoline Synpower Synthetic. Got 35 mpg on a trip right after the oil change. Purolater makes the best filter imo. With the 3.0, sludge protection is very important--they have a history of locking up. When changing oil, I let that sucker drain sometimes overnight, to get that extra pint of dirty oil in the drain pan. Oh 5-30 weight. IMPORTANT! PRIME THE OIL FILTER BEFORE INSTALLING-that is the source of initial lubrication at start-up.

i use castrol syntec blend 10w-30. I used to use advanced auto oil 10w-30 and when the car sat for a few days, when you cranked it it felt like the car was shaking. When I switched to the syntec blend and let the car sit for the same time it cranked right up and idled way smoother. My 97 has about 207k miles and consumes no oil and runs like new.

I'll take Amsoil 0W 30 over the M1 0W 40 personally...especially for fuel economy, among other factors.
