Smile How to change the fuel filter.

Missing a little? Describe because I just went through the whole thing and it was a coil pack that was cracked on the plug tube end. I replaced the spark plugs, the fuel filter, the air filter, the battery, and a coil pack. Make sure the air filter is clean as well as the Mass Air Flow Sensor. But back to the fuel filter.

The fuel is under the air filter and by the brake booster as in the drawing. It is held on by two bolts to the body of the car and has a fuel tube with quick disconnect on top and a hard pipe line on the bottom with a flare fitting and threaded joint. When you order your new fuel filter it it will not have the plastic connection connector so save it off the old filter. It is easy to do and I did it in the dark in about 30 minutes. They say you have to release the fuel pressure but don't worry about that just make sure and disconnect the battery. And have a bowl to catch the excess fuel that will come out of the filter/line. You need to wrenches for the bottom of the filter. One to hold the filter nut and one to loosen the flange. Also make sure and connect and thread tighten the fuel lines some before putting in the body bolts.
Good Luck!

I can assume this is the same location for a 2000 ES?

Default cool thanks Mangoman

Heres the deal, it runs fine on short trips, but if I drive for more than 1 hour the car TOTALLY sputters. It’s the same sputtering as if I pulled off a brake booster hose, and cleaned it out with Seafoam. I have to put it into Neutral, and give it gas, or sometimes it stalls out. But when I get to my destination, and I turn off the car for about an hour, then turn it back on, its fine.
A couple people have told me it’s probably the Fuel Filter. I did the spark plugs 15,000 miles ago, and just about everything else under the hood.

What do you think?

Any check engine lights? It could be your iac-idle air control valve or tpms. Try cleaning your throttle body.

Default Just changed the Fuel filter...

And I noticed the difference immediately. I think that did the trick. Thanks for the diagram Mangoman. I was lucky that a buddy of mine did it for me, cuz it was a pain in the butt.
