Default weird noise on cold start

hey all, i am noticing this weird noise from the center towards the rear of the car on cold starts, especially on reverse. it sounds like something is about to snap because the lack of lub. but the noise goes away after the car warms up. i am guessing it might be the rod from the engine that moves the wheels. could that be it? has any one else noticed this. btw its a 96 es300.

thanks for input

I don't know what kind of "cold" starts you get in Florida, but with the -5° weather we've been having here for the past week, my car makes a LOT of funny noises when starting up.

That actually sounds like something in the transmission, based on where you described the location of the noise.

the noise sounds more like from the chasis and suspension area. and it occurs and sounds louder when the steering wheel is turing in reverse. i want to take my car for inspection in fear of a break down but i dont know what to tell them
