I know this is not the first post about this problem, but my question is if someone has fixed this themselves or knows how much it will cost to get fixed(not from dealer, but other transmission shops).
Our Toyota van had the shift problem but Toyota replaced the tranny for free since it had less than 100k miles, unfortunately the lexus has about 150-160K so I am out of luck.

A family mechanic said "no problem just drive it until it breaks down and I'll replace it"

He said to bring it to the Lexus dealor and that it would cost around $2,000
