Question About to by an es300... seeking advice!

So i am about to buy a 97 es300 with 123k miles on it for a daily driver. The dealer is also giving me a 3 month/5k mile warranty. I know its a yota, but the mileage still concerns me. I just wanted to see what kind of experiences you guys have had with this car with this sort of mileage. Is there anything in particular i should be looking for (common problems, noises etc). I just need some reassurance

I am currently a proud owner of a rx300 and have had no problems so i hope to get the same out of this one!

i have a 97 with a 150k on it the only thing i have had to change is the starter. i used to be a mechanic i had a couple that i worked on with over 300k on them. quite possibly one the most bullet proof cars ever.

See if you can get any service records. look for timing belt change and transmission services.

if hes giving you good price go for it.

I have a 97 with almost 200k on it and it runs awsome. All i did was do a seafoam treatment to get some of the carbonation out.

you're essentially buying a dressed up toyota camry... and you see how many of those are on the road. As long as you do your routine maintenence to it, it'll treat you good. Just be sure that you do your due diligence as far as checking out the engine bay of the car, making sure its tighty, and if its been parked for a bit, look underneath the car to see if you can spot some oil leakage. Start the car up and make sure you turn on the lights, check the speedo gauge to make sure all lthe needles light up... well you get the point.

I bought my '96 with 151,000 miles in May of '06. It now has 173,000 and the only repairs I've done are starter contacts, CV boots, and rear sway bar bushings (all wear items). It burns no oil, and still gets 28-30 mpg on the highway.

Still, I'd have it checked by a mechanic that I trust just to be safe. True, it's a Toyota, but even neglected Toyotas can turn into nightmares.
