Default Rear Brake work. Any different than front?

Hi, I'm new at this forum and have a question about working on a 93 ES300 REAR brake pads/rotor replacement. I've red most of a write up about FRONT brake pad/rotor changes but Is there anything different about working on a rear brakes that I need to watch out for? or Is it exactly the same?
Any commet will be appliciated.
Thanks.

Thanks vin 78, I've actually bookmarked and red your instruction on front brake write up. It is a great one. Also what grease did you use for a pin in a torque plate? What torque wrench did you use to tighten a bolt and nut?

^^^ I'm glad you find it useful.

As for the grease, I used high speed bearing grease, but you can use pretty much any general grease at auto parts stores.

For the torque wrench, I used a 3/8 drive with regular sockets. You should use a 1/2 torque wrench for wheels btw.

Cool

Rear rotor changes bmust be done with the parking brake off, so chock the wheels. The parking brake is a drum brake inside the rotor hat of the rear brakes. Check the parking brake shoes & adjust them while you have access.

Otherwise, same thing, smaller parts.

Default Piston Ratation Tool?

So here I am at local auto parts store and a guy told me for my 93 Lexus Rear brake, I need a Piston Rotation Tool, it looks like a small cubic thing to turn a piston to push it back What is this tool and do I really need this for my rear brake job? I thought I can just push piston back into a position like a front brake? Or Is this apply to a newer Lexus?
Thanks.

It is also called Disk Brake Piston Tool- "Designed to rotate the parking-brake-activated piston back into the caliper cylinder when replacing worn pads on vehicles equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes."
Does anyone know if we use it for 93 ES300 rear brake?
Thanks.

You mean the emergency brake. E-brake must not be pulled. Also, there is a hole, the one that is plugged in by a plastic seal. Make sure the hole is at 6-0-clock position, take a flat and adjust the e-brake to loosen it. (see pic)

(I can't remember if clockwise or counter-clockwise). And the 2 small holes, if you can't easily take out the rotor after the adjusting of the e-brake, take 2 screws that fit into the 2 small holes and screw them in, it should "push" out the rotor slowly.
