Default brake fluid changing

For those with ~10 year old ESs, have you changed your brake fluid?

Also, is it stated anywhere officially by Toyota/Lexus that it should be changed at a certain interval (years?)?

Cool

Ditto. Brake fluid should be changed every 3 years on any vehicle. It's not the fluid, it's the presence of water & air.

Dot 3, or dot 4 in our case. Less you're a rich **** & can justify buying 5.1.

2-3 years or 25-30,000 miles.
remember start from the farthest point from the brake fluid reserviour.
if you can put the car on jackstands and do this, it would be helpful

Power bleeders work great, but do you need to spend this money on this product for the very few times you'll use it?

Had it done recently. Unfortunately, at the stealer for $125........but I dont have the tools, expertise, nor time to do such things myself. I say change it every 2-3 years (not mileage-based), since the fluid absorbs moisture over time.

Was DOT 4 around long before 92-96 ES300s? This site claims the following- "... if your car was delivered with DOT 3 fluid, the internal components of the system (seals, brake hoses, and fittings for example) were specifically designed and tested for compatibility with DOT 3. Because DOT 4 fluids contain a different chemical composition, the system may not necessarily react in a positive fashion to the borate esters floating around in the mix."

If so, is ATE Super Blue a top choice?
