Thank you very much. This is very helpful.
A couple follow-up questions.
* Do you also have the connector pictures that show which connectors are associated with the schematic pinouts?
* Do have have access to the non Mark Levinson radio schematics?
* Do you know where the Navigation unit is installed in the 2002 ES300.
I assumed it was installed in the the trunk but when I looked there it was not obvious where it goes (or perhaps it gets installed elsewhere).
Again - Thanks a ton!

I can assist in questions about wiring because I have wired many Lexus and other vehicle manufacturer navigation stereo setups for bench use for product development purposes and very familiar with how all the pieces communicate.
Basically there is RGB signal from the Navigation module DVD that is shielded and runs all the way to the front of the vehicle.
There is also TX and RX wires coming from it that allow the Navigation to "speak" to the stereo. those are the important parts to it.

2003 Navigation Install
I finally got it done...navigation is installed and working GREAT...my head unit is a ML nav unit but my car had premium sound and i was still able to use the same speakers and amp and the ML system worked on my premium system...i had to do a few wiring mod like finding the speed sensor wire for the nav and the amplifier input to hear my nav. system works great. i didnt get a chance to take any pics since i wasnt sure if it will work. but its not that bad...all you will need is the wiring diagram for the whole unit...i am an engineer so i figured it out..if you are one it will be a piece of cake for you. if you are not it will be a little chalanging but not impossible.
i paid about $900 for the whole factory system including the front head unit with casing, antena and GPS module with DVD.

I'm doing the same thing you did and I was wondering if you can help me with the speed sensor VSS wire and the amplifier input? Thanks.

Well, as I didn't get any reply, I decided to tackle it on my own. I bought a 2 day pass on Toyota TIS and studied the wiring and I got it all done, so now I have a full functional factory NAV. Everything is working including the voice guidance through the front left speaker. The only thing that I don't know about is that if I have the music a little loud, the guidance doesn't mute the music when it speaks, is that normal?

Never mind, I checked my LS and it's doing the exact same thing, just mute the front left speaker only when voice guidance comes on but not the rest of the speakers.

The link is for 2003, after doing my homework, I decided to go with 2006 NAV unit as it has the Nav drive built it. So I needed the wiring diagram for 04 to 06. TIS used to offer 1 day pass for $10.00 now it a 2 day minimum for $15,00. Any way, I took the chance and downloaded all the wiring diagrams for Both 2002/2003 and 2004-2006. I'm sure it'll come handy one day. Thanks

This is why I went with the 2006 unit. I also installed the back-up camera, ISTY 651 with XM tuner and this way I got USB, line-in audio, Bluetooth streaming and phone interface.

Pleasanton Lexus just told me that Kar Tunz does all their custom audio installs for them.
https://www.yelp.com/biz/kar-tunz-pleasanton
http://kartunz.com/
They also install high quality parking sensors for $1,200, that includes 4 sensors on the front and back.
They use the slow, faster and constant beep sound to let you know when you are near an object.
The offer a one year guarantee on their installations.
The sensors themselves are made in Italy.
Does anyone know of any other places in the SF Bay area
that also installs parking sensors and head units and does a high quality job
and will guarantee their work?

Like I mentioned before, I went with the 2004-2006 NAV which has the navigation unit built in so I didn't need to connect anything in the trunk but in the meantime, I also installed the rear sunshade which required me to take the back seat off and the package tray too and I didn't see any navigation harness in the back while I was doing this.

I am looking into buying a 2005-6 330 with nav and installing a modern Pioneer or Alpine head unit in it.
Do you know which aftermarket head unit can fit in a 2004-06 330?
Do you need the special Metra mounting bracket to install it in?
