Well I got this problem that is driving me crazy. I searched the forum but I didn't find anything on this issue. Currently my car (1996) has 150K. Everything works fine except this: When I put the car in reverse it feels like the engine is about to jump out of the car. I changed all my mounts and no help. Okay i guess I can live with that. Now the serious problem is shifting. Most of the time 1st to 2nd shift under 2K rpm is rough. Especially in traffic, i gets me pissed. Then every time at any rpm and speed the disengagement when I let go of the gas pedal it jerks the motor as if I am putting in revers except not as hard. If I tap the gas again it will jerk the same way. I can not drive like this. It drives me nuts. I flushed my tranny, cleaned my injectors, and put in a new tps sensor. Somebody told me that tps could be the issue and it needs adjustment. I have no clue. I need some input on this. Thanks.

So when you shift from 1st to 2nd and it shifts hard, does the rpm go up before shifting?

From the jerk of going in reverse and if ^^above is yes... I would think it's the tranny about to go. My $0.02.

The tranny doesnt slip at all, just shift hard to second. Sometimes it will go in smoothly but thats only at certain rpm. aprox. 2100 or 1900.
