I'm planning on lowering my 2002 ES300 in the near future... However, I recently heard that besides buying springs i will need to purchase shocks as well.
My question is... is it absolutely necessary to purchase shocks for my car as well? Or is buying springs enough? (Planning on purchasing Tanabe springs)

You dont have to get new shocks but it is recommended. Your shocks will wear out faster... probably not even for another 5-10k miles but it will wear out faster than if you had the stock springs on.
If anything, when you decide to get new shocks, you'll probably feel the biggest upgrade in handling and performance than any other bolt on upgrade. I always recommend suspension upgrades as much as possible before major power upgrades.

I've came across numerous springs for my car (2002 ES), but not yet have i found any shocks for the particular year of my vehicle. Anyone know where i can find them?

If you plan on dropping your car, then you might as well shell out the money for shocks. This way you don't have to go back and install shocks after your stock ones have blown. At best, your stock shocks will be toast after 5k miles depending on how new your car is. Go with KYB GR2 shocks if you want to keep your ride close to stock. Best of luck to ya.

Thanks for the website! I was wondering... if i purchased the KYB GR2 shocks, can i still purchase the Tanabe springs and use them together?... The thing is, i'd like to lower my car as much as i can... (without airbags of course)

They are having a group buy for tein coilovers in the vendor market classifieds right now. Sounds like you are going that route. This would be a good time for you to jump in on that deal.
