'92 Headlamp Info Needed - No time like the present?
I noticed just this morning that I've a driver's side headlamp bulb out.
Keeping in mind that the '92's headlamps are one of the things I find the most attractive about this body style (and I've no desire to scrap them for a complete replacement)...
Since the '92 has the excellent projector headlamp setup, what's involved for me to upgrade to HID while keeping the stock projector setup and look?
The search button has returned a LOT of the '97-'01 headlamp conversions/upgrades, but nothing about folks' 2nd generation headlamp work.

I installed an 8000k kit in my 92 and while the color was nice, the output and cutoff will be the same as stock, just a bit brighter. I didn't like the 8000k because the output color was very violet/blueish, and strained the hell out of my eyes after prolonged use (almost made me fall asleep behind the wheel on a 4 hour road trip coming back from Alabama -- think of sitting in a dark room with a blacklight on). I ended up taking them out and putting back in some silverstars. I'd say if you go for a HID kit, get 4300k or 6000k if you want to actually see better.
Next time I am going to try a 4300k kit from xenondepot, and if I still am not happy with that it will be time to retrofit. I think that because the stock projectors are so big (3" or bigger), a nice porsche or bmw bi-xenon projector should fit nicely inside the stock housing. The only problem really is that the high and low projectors in our cars are one solid piece, so they have to be separated. It can be done though, just a bigger pain in the butt than sticking one in a reflector bowl.

Sounds a little more iffy and expensive than I want at this time. I just ordered the 9006su silverstar ultras and 9005su silverstar ultras from Amazon.com.
Maybe by the time these burn out, I'll be recovered from the suspension and wheel purchases.

Ima doing the same. Just be sure to not touch the bulbs when you install them. They'll last a lot longer.

I just installed the sylvannia 'cool blue' bulbs on my truck, and They are waayy brighter and bluer than the silver stars. For 14 bucks total, I think they are a better deal. Also, have you considered doing the 9005 mod to fit 9005 bulbs into the 9006 housing? They will make them noticeable brighter.

yeah while it looks appealing.......the actual hid light output sux on our projector setup. I think phoenix mentioned something about shimming the lens for a sharper cutoff. i might try that next time i open up my headlights.

They are not called silverstars, they are just another product from sylvania

I personally would choose cool blue over silverstars..and while your at it, do the 9005 mod.
