Yea 9.5 is too deep. I had to put in longer studs a 12mm spacer and grind a quarter inch off the rears to make my 18*9.5's fit.

Hi everyone,

G'day from Australia! I'm a new member to the website and I'd thought I'd share the pics of my new wheels on my 1997 Lexus ES300. I started off with the original 15" wheels with 205/65/15 tyres and I have now upgraded to 17" wheels with 225/50/17 Goodyear "Excellence" Tyres. Overall, I am very happy with the result. The tyres are fantastic! Very smooth and quiet. Just what I wanted! I'm really glad I went with the tyre size I did as I was a bit worried about loss of comfort in the ride. It's perfect for me. I wish Lexus was as popular in Australia compared to the USA, The prices in OZ for Lexus stuff is just soooo damn expensive!!

The new wheels are Toyota 'Aurion' alloys and my standard lexus centre caps fitted straight on. (Not sure if they have this model of Toyota in USA) I realise that the wheels may not be to everyone's taste, but what do you think guys and girls? (I hope the pictures work - I'm new to all this!)

Those wheels give the illusion of a 18. Looks good!

I'll buy your corner lights off you

Um, the pictures did just fine! That's a dapper ES300 right there! VERY nice. And I happen to like the wheels.

Nice job! Clean, stylish and keep-it-simple - right in line with the design theme of the ES!! Well done!

Thanks for the comments guys, - I was a bit worried at first that the wheels wouldn't look nice because I bought them quick without really thinking about the whole thing. I think that they've worked out well. You both have great rides too.

97 Lexy - I must say that I'm glad that the Aussie version came out with the clear corners as standard. Personally, I'm not too keen on the orange ones! They did however come out with the small standard orange indicators on the front side fenders but I've changed mine to clear! See the other thread/post - 'Before and after pics of your ES' I've pictured them in there.

I bought a set of GS chrome 17's to put on, but needed to do some adjusting due to the offset of 50. Sold them to my brother-in-law, and bought these 18's from discount tire.

Yea I'm a huge fan of keeping the lexus theme going. It looked even better during the two weeks I drove it before I hit the damn sandbarrel. Oh well my dads customers can appicate it when the go to the back lot of the dealership
