My emphasis added to the quote.
That last factor is a BIG one. Even the sharp new one (the 1st body style I've liked as much as 2nd/3rd gens) is FWD, which would have me spending the money on another model if I was buying right now.
So yeah, Infa_Red, I'd say you're on the right track. I'd probably be trying the IS first, as I'm totally over the styling. Very tight and sleek around the cabin. Reminds me of a new interpretation of the 2nd gen ES styling.
The GS is really nice too.

Yea I know it wasnt a shot at me lol, i was just stating that if he sells private, thats the most he can look forward to getting. If you looked at the site i gave you, you can see that there are some '92 ES's with 200k miles going for over 5k. I think its crazy but hey Ill follow the trend when i sell .

After driving a 96 es300 then jumping into my 93 sc300 its a huge difference. Dont get me wrong, the es is a GREAT car, I love the thing and Im glad we have one in the family, but I found myself wanting more while driving it.

Well the ES has always been desingned for a smooth quiet riding upscale FWD family sedan, unlike the SC which is more performance-oriented RWD coupe, so youre comparing apples to oranges. The ES is pretty much your high end Camry XLE V6 but looks better. My ES has plenty of ***** and while its handling isnt sporty (its not supposed to be) it is NOT sloppy at all, and it goes where you put it, but I wouldnt mind owning a low mileage older SC for a beater just for a change of pace. 1jz's & 2jz's are awesome Toyota engines, will never blow up.
