Default dash light

hey everybody, im 18 years old and im a proud owner of a 97 es 300

i really love this car but
there's the trac light in the dashboard, i press the button under the steering but nothing hapen.

what could it be?

Is it expensive to get the traction control fix assuming that it is the problem

by the way im a french canadian ( quebec city ) so my englsih isnt so good

I believe traction control is on by default when you turn the car on. Pushing the button should turn it off, and there should be a dash light that says "Trac Off" or something.

The "TRAC OFF" light is also a problem light. When its on traction control is disabled as a default. Could be a speed sensor or wiring issue.

Is your ABS light on too?

Yea if it stays lit, there's probably something wrong related to traction control or other safety systems. Try the owner's manual, or you might have to go to the dealer and get them to read a code and diagnose it.

actually my abs light isnt lighted ( it appears only when i start the engine and it goes away....normally)

thanks for your help and this week im gonna do a lil chek up,

new oil, new tramission oil, a tramission clean up, and my summer tire
