3) Carefully remove the plastic cover using screw driver as above. You don't need to completely remove it, just to have access to the connector.

4) Unplug the connector by pressing on its tab. You can hold the upper fixed part of the connector with one hand and the lower removable part with other hand by pressing on the tab at the same time.

5) Identify the fog light wire as in the pic. The wires in the connector are numbered from 1-17. The fog light wire coming from the relay is #11. Notice the large white/black wire #16 (this is ground wire).

6) As you did previously, connect all the pins of the relay to their position in the socket except for pin #2 of the relay. Leave #2 of the socket unconnected.

7) Using small extension wire may be 14-16AWG (long enough), connect pin#2 of the relay to terminal pin#11 of the combination switch connector. You can just push it inside with the #11 terminal pin and make sure it holds good. Make sure you don't have any connection to other pins of connector or other parts.

8) place the combination switch connector back to its place and make sure the extension wire is connected well on each side (relay pin#2 and connector pin#11).

9) Now switch on the headlight, and than switch on the fog lights. if the fog lights switch working, fogs light should turn on and the problem is the wire harness. if they didn't turn on, the combination switch is the problem.

Let me know the result.

After connecting pin #2 of the relay to terminal pin #11, the fog lights did not come on. I was not able to squeeze it into terminal pin #11 so I just spliced it and wrapped it around the wire.

Durring these test and evaluations, I noticed that:

- pin #1 of the relay, to pin #1 of the socket
- pin #3 of the relay, to pin #3 of the socket
- pin #4 of the relay, to pin #4 of the socket
- pin #2 of the relay, to be grounded

will allow me to use my fog lights only when the head lights are on, and when the head lights are off, the fog lights will be off. By doing this will it cause any damnge to anythig if I choose to run my fog light setup like this?

So, it looks that the fog light switch is not working. You have two options:

1) Buy a new switch (it is a combination switch so I don't think it is cheap).
2) Buy a 12V switch and mount it anywhere you like and use it as separate fog light switch. Only instead of connecting pin #2 of the relay to ground connect it first to the switch and then connect it to ground like this:

pin#2 of relay ---> wire ---> switch ----> wire ----> ground

And don't forget, leave #2 of the socket unconnected.

If you did the above step fog lights will work just like OEM, only comes on with the headlight. If you want to do the mod, just connect a wire from a fuse (you can get something like this https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...43&postcount=6 ) to pin#1 of the relay. Connect pin#2 of the relay to switch than to ground.

LEAVE #1 AND #2 OF THE SOCKET UNCONNECTED.

This way when switch on the fog lights using the fog switch they will come on regardless of the headlights.

Question. Just out of curiosity, what is the purpose of the switch if the fog lights turn on when the head lights turn on, and turn off when the head lights are off if:

- pin #1 of the relay, to pin #1 of the socket
- pin #3 of the relay, to pin #3 of the socket
- pin #4 of the relay, to pin #4 of the socket
- pin #2 of the relay, to be grounded

I went to kragen auto parts to look for a switch and there were some switches with 2 pins (ones that look like the ones on the fog light relay) and 3 pins (ones that look like the ones on the fog light relay). The switches with 2 pins are not labled, and the switches with 3 pins are labled, Power, Load, Ground. How would I go about wiring these types of switches?

The switch is to replace the non-working OEM fog switch so you can turn off the fog lights any time you want, unless you want them on all the time you switch on the headlight.

I think one with 2 pins is ok. Sometimes the have (+) and (-) pins on them, where you connect the wire coming from the relay to the (+) and connect the (-) to ground.
