Default Finished my dash kit installation today..

Finally got it all in, I used a bracket a buddy of mine had and made the face plate out of mdf. Then I veneered it with burled walnut. I think it turned out pretty well, just not sure how I feel about the woodgrain between the two plastic pieces.

It does look good, but I second your thoughts about the wood in-between the plastic...

I took the mounting bracket from an old lexus dash kit, and made an mdf piece to fit into the empty slot, and cut a whole out for the cd player to slide into. Then I glued the little bracket thign the cd player clips into to the mdf piece. The vennering is pretty easy as well, you just put the glue on like contact cement and then iron it on. Then it got a nice coating of polyurethane.
