Default Safety or Defect?

So I have always noticed this about my car just never thought about posting it on the forums but today thought hey im curious, stuck at work, and bored... Do all of our sunroofs/moonroofs stop in the middle when closing it as a safety feature or is it just mine?... I always thought it was weird, then thought HEY it must be a safety feature.. or not?

I think the 02 + es300s changed to the automatic sensors, so if you stick your hand up there, then it stops.

Hmm. I really doesn't bother me that much..i just have to press the button twice to close it, but it would be nice to have a one-touch close option.

Cool

Aye.
All of my more modern vehicles with sunroofs (several - we love sunroofs) have done this.

Thanks to this feature, I've never caught my head in the sunroof whilst motoring down the boulevard. Well, okay - only once.

Yea, it even says so in the owner's manual. Safety feature that's rather useless. The switch on the '96 doesnt even do the express close (one push auto-close). So would anyone knowingly hold the switch to close, AND stick their finger out at the same time?!
