can i use KYB strut mounts and stock struts together.. AJUSA.com has a good deal on them with free shipping.. I'm almost tempted to order these because I'm almost certain that this is whats causing the thumb sound over bumps on the drivers side.. I would rather start with the strut mount first to see if this cures the noise.. Should i just buy the drivers side or buy both?
I'd rather start with the strut mount instead of my mechanic starting with a new strut.. He's willing to try a new strut and only charge me if this is the cause.. My only concern is there replacement parts are pretty expensive. I think they only get Monroe products but not sure.. I'm only going the strut mount route because from what I've read this seems to be an issue with 97 ES's..
The sound is thump witch sounds like something is loose like a strut or something.. I guess i won't know until i bring it in Next week or so.. I just don't want to rack up a unnecessary bill.. Thanks

From what I've researched the stock struts were either KYB-made or Gabriel struts anyway, so using the KYB mounts will not hurt anything with the stock struts. As inexpensive as they are, and as likely as they'll need replacing, I'd go ahead and purchase and install both.
