Default idle rpm dips what is the cause???

i have a 2000 es300 with 62xxx miles. recently after driving for a while the rpms dip and then come back up when at idle, it sounds like it is going to stall and then regains rpms and then falls again but never stalls. my ignition also seems odd because it takes more cranks to start sometimes not based on temp and i dont know that cause of that. Along with those problems i have been seeing the usual minor things such as tranny lag and low gas mileage.

anyone know anything that might be causing this? thx in advance.

Have you done basic Maintenance? Replaced the PCV valve and Air filter? Cleaned the TB, EGR, IACV, and injectors?

Sometimes, thats really all it takes.

Your cranking problem is probably just a normal issue. If you see it takes longer to turn the engine on after you have parked it for a long period of time, it's probably just simply because the battery power has lowered since you last drove. While when you turn your car off for like 20 minutes, and get back in and turn it on, and you find it turns on quite quickly, than that's it.

At 62K if you haven't had a tune up done, then I would recommend a basic tuneup i.e. spark plugs, pcv valve and air filter. Usually at 62K it shouldn't require it yet, but if you do a lot of local driving and or if you use cheap gas then that can cause more carbon build up on the plugs. I always pump 93 octane in my car.

You can also try putting 2 full bottles of fuel injection cleaner in the gas tank the next time you fill up before doing the tune up. If this works then its a sign that its the plugs and the injectors/valves that have alot of carbon build up.

A clogged air filter will make it hard to start when HOT not cold.
Sounds more like a fuel problem. If there even is a problem
Id start by checking the cold start injector first then leaking injectors.
Do what you feel like but fuel additives in a bottle i stay away from except for anti freezein the winter. I f you change your oil regularly, keep fluids good and clean, and clean everything as part of your 90 K you dont need to use that stuff or youll be forced to change plugs at 62K cuz theyll be fouled.

People have a misconcetpion here. The manufacturer specifies nothing about fuel additives but people do it anyway, yet when a manufacturer recommends a timing belt at xxx miles or a $15 oil change every xxx miles apparently thats not important.

My wife's 2000 RX300 has just started acting up. The car cranks and runs but goes dead will not idle, RPM drops to zero. What do I need to do or buy to fix it? Will MAF sensor cause this? Thanks now for any and all help.

Car stalling basically - no air, no gas or no spark. Check air filter and clean the throttle plate. then drive around and see if this continues.

Default Low idle fix/setting idle computer reprogramming

I idle at 500. I want it to be about in the 700s. I feel it is too low for my alternator to reach turn on speed. Other cleaning the IACV, what else can I do to get it to where it should be. Ideally I want it to be 800 - but I somehow need to program the computer on the car to set idle speed to this. any ideas? thanks.

Try disconnecting the battery for a half hour and see if it resets the computer.
