Default ES 300 worth

i see that alot of members bought their ES used, and i just want to know how much you paid or willing to pay for the ES you got. the reason i ask is because i am posting my 96 ES with 93000 miles on sale. Just want to know how much people are willing to pay. I already checked with NADA (clean retail: $6925), KBB ($5575)and their average price but the price seems too high for a 96 for most people that are interested. (why are there such a big $$ difference between kbb and nada?)
The car is clean in and out with minimal dents. it does have some oil leak from the engine though.
any input about how much i should list it would be appreciated

In my opinion KBB is more for the general public or private sellers. I noticed on KBB they price the vehicle based on condition Poor, Fair, Good, Excellent so the price will range.

I think the majority of Insurance and car dealers uses the NADA which doesn't base it on the vehicle's condition, its just an average so the car dealers and insurance companies have an easier way of valueing your car lower then what it should be.

The other difference I noticed is location and its based on demand. For example an SUV is worth more in the northen regions simply because their's a higher demand for them so the retail price should be a bit better.

In 2004 I paid $9000 for my 94 ES300 which had only 60K on it so to me it was a good deal. It still is a good deal as its super smooth. I haven't had to put any money into it until this past summer. I had an exhaust leak and it had 80K miles on it so I figure I'd give it a full tune-up and replace all of the belts while I was at it.

It costed me $600 in parts (parts were discounted at a price of about 20% above wholesale - brother's connections) and $300 to my brother who's a former toyota mechanic. It took him 2 full days to do everything so $300 was a deal. Not to mention that it probably would of costed me $2500 if I had the dealership do it.

Cool

ditto, nada is more kbb's uper end of the retail range.
I'd just put it in the paper for what kbb says it's worth private party. If you want say $500-1000 more & see what happens.

I think the easiest way is to compare your car to others for sale locally (check craigslist) and use that as a basis for your decision. Every time I look to purchase a used car and the guy goes "This car is worth blah blah blah on KBB", I tell him I don't care what KBB says or NADA for that matter. If I can get a clean 93 ES300 w/low mileage for $4400 in 2002, then I sure as hell am not going to pay $6000 for a 96 in 2007. Hell, I just bought a 92 for $1350 with a "bad" engine but a clean body (and practically new snow tires). New engine cost me $730 shipped and another two hundred in maintenance parts (belts, water pump, etc). Then again, that's just me. I like to remind people that their car is over 10 years old, even if it's a Toyota/Lexus. It's retarded when you see civics with springs, wheels, cai/sri, and exhaust go for the same asking price as an ES300. I just tell them, I'll race you in my ES300 and if I win, you sell it to me for my asking price.. they never seem to go for that.. go figure
