Cool

ofcorse they're not as bright. you put BS blue tinted bulbs in them that filters out all the actually useable yellow-orange-red light.

The brightest bulbs are generic phillips & sylvania $6-7 bulbs. Not silverstars, not piaa's, not anything marked damned xenon.
Beyond that is converting to HIR's (which are relatively expencive & have a low life span)
King of the hill is modifying / swapping projectors for something that will control the light output of a real set of HID's.

afa the headlights, the best thing to do is take the off the car, unglue them in the oven, dissasemble them and clean them. Clean the plastic with polish (or even 2000 grit wetsand paper if needed, then workbackwards) Clean the lenses in the dishwasher.
should be instructions for that elsewhere on the forum.

I think that Mcguire's Plastix is specifically used for clearing headlights, could be wrong though...

Thumbs up

Several of us have used the Wolfgang Lens Cleaning System with GREAT success.

My headlight lenses used to be quite cloudy as well. Now they're wonderfully clear, highlighting the awesome projector headlight design and the very reflective chrome within the headlight housing.

Some great info so far! Also make sure that when upgrading to other headlight bulbs that you don't go above the recommended wattage for the headlight housing. Putting in a higher wattage bulb ie 90w will damage the plastic headlight lens causing it to go brown or cloudy on the inside.

Also, if you want to put those 'blue style' bulbs in the headlights note that you may loose some 'brightness' depending on how blue they are.
If you do want to use them make sure you stick with a HIGH QUALITY BULB like Philips, Osram etc These are UV protected. The blue coatings on the really cheap and nasty brands will actually vapourise (gradually burn off) leaving a cloudy fog/ haze on the inside of your lens - not a good look!

I personally have used the Philips brand blue bulbs for a long time with no problems at all.

PS - if you also take your headlight apart as others have suggested make sure you clean the reflector part too but be very, very gentle and use a dry, clean, soft cloth only. You shouldn't have to use any cleaning product on the actual reflector itself - just wipe very carefully as this can scratch very very easily.

Hope this helps!
