So I just picked up a '92 ES300 for $500, its got a ton of problems, but it still runs ok which is all I really need.
My main beef with it is that im only getting about 15 mpg on average, and im pretty sure I should be getting better than that. Im basically looking for some help on what kinds of things I can do to try and fix this.
Some of the problems i know of off the top of my head are...
1. Have to let the car sit a few minutes after cold start or else it will die when i put it in gear.
2. tranny jerks when it shifts
3. hesitation when i step on gas. (possibly fuel injectors?)
4. CEL is on, so i should probly take it to the shop and have em run a diagnostic on it.
so my friend told me i should clean my fuel injectors, and i think its quite obvious i dont know a whole lot about cars, so im not quite sure how to do that, or if it would help.
anyways any advice you could give would be awesome, as im still trying to figure this car out.

rite away ... its your MAF ... or something related to your air flow system ... I had this problem when I 1st got my IS300
cost ya around $300 to get it fixed ... but definately worth it ... you're not damaging anything to keep driving it as is ... but just get it fixed ... the amount you're loosing in gas milage alone is more than enought to justify the repair

thanks for the input guys, I actually ran into that thread shortly after posting, some of it looks kinda complicated to me, but I'll give it a shot when i get some spare time. I put some fuel injection cleaner in my tank today, chevron with techron seemed to be the crowd favorite around here.
so about the MAF, what should I do about that just take it into the shop and say i need my Mass AirFlow **** replaced?

Jerky shifting when you change gears suggest that your tranny is wearing out and you may have to get it rebuilt, or you need to check your engine mounts/tranny mounts to see if they need to be replaced.

Oh and to clarify on reading codes, For example a code 25 will show as 2 blinks, pause, 5 blinks, repeat.... If youve got more than one, they will be displayed in numerical order i think, not sure on that...
