Mileage Question - Thinking about buying a '92 ES300 with 230K miles on it.
Whats up all.
I am thinking about purchasing a 1992 ES300 that has 230K miles on it since I have heard that lexus engines are pretty reliable, but I wanted to hear from those that actually drive them. Basically I just want to know what mileage everyone's '92 ES300 has. Also let me know what are some of the common problems that afflict these cars so that I can make sure to look deeper into those aspects. Any input is highly appreciated.

Wow lot of 92s lately.
Some of the guys here are over 200K and some dont have a lot of miles. My 92 has 105K and some change. Check the maintenance history of the car.
Common problems, lets see...........
Valve covers
O2 sensors
CV joints
Sway bar end links/bushings/leaking struts/strut tops
Maintenace items that should be done or need to be done
Timing belt/water pump (180K)
Change all your fluids if that hasent been done yet including Tranny fluid
Clean the IAC, EGR, and the t-body. (That probably hasnt been done yet)
Change your plugs since youve got the plenum off anyway. (Denso or NGK plz)
Replace both rad caps
Do a compression test on the engine so you know if youre head gaskets and valvetrain are happy. And find out if it ever overheated. Dont let it run hot.
Hopefully im not missing anything... Enjoy your car if you get it.
