Question New Clutch Break-In Period

Just got my car back yesterday after having a new clutch put in and the flywheel resurfaced with a new rear main seal. I was in such a hurry when I picked it up I forgot to ask exactly how long I need to break it in. I drove a good 200 miles or so yesterday, taking it real easy (not revving past 4k, trying not to down shift too soon, taking off nice and smooth, etc.) but a couple times I really had to gun it pulling out into traffic.

So I'm wondering how long should I keep this up before I can really see how well the new clutch performs. My friend told me he only went easy on his Celica for about 500 miles after a new clutch and was fine. Does that sound about right?

I was going to upgrade to a stage 1, but since this is going to be my daily driver for a little while longer I went with OEM. The pedal is sooo much stiffer now as it is, and the couple times I did punch the gas it really pulled well. The pedal was so mushy before that it feels like a totally different car. Next thing I need to do is replace my shifter bushings (7 of them according to Lexus) to get rid of all the play in my shifter, and I'll be done with the tranny on this thing for a while!

I dont think you really need to break it in. Just drive the car normal.
How many miles did you get before the clutch went bad?

Nice, I wasn't sure so I just wanted to be safe. I put about 30k miles on the car since I got it last year, and the clutch was already kinda soft from the beginning. Right now it has 170k. The original owner said he had the first one replaced around 80k, but he never sent the records for it to me so I'm not positive. But the pedal didn't have much of a catch ever, and I could almost push it all the way down with just the tips of my toes. Now its rock solid and I really have to let it out slowly or the pedal just shoots back. It is a night and day difference!
